Backup replicated volume

We have replication working between an SC4020 at Site A and a SC8000 at Site B already but we need to backup for archive reasons from Site B if possible since that is where our CommVault backup infrastructure resides.

I had an idea to map the replicated volumes to Site B vCenter (making the datastores read-only) then use CommVault to backup those VMware datastores. If I try to map the replicated volumes to one of the Site B vSphere servers I get a message saying this volume is already mapped to a server or remote Storage Center and this may cause corruption.

Does this warning still apply if I make the datastore read-only? Does anyone know another option to backup the replicated volume from Site B? There is currently no CommVault infrastructure at Site A.
