SC4020 cluster volume - multi server access query
Hi All,
I am setting up an SC4020 to talk with 3 Hyper-V 2016 Server servers. I am trying to create some shared areas so that all servers can read/write to them simultaneously, I've used the "Create server cluster" feature in DSM.
I can see the 3 servers connected to the volume but when I create a test file/directory on one of the servers, it is not showing up on the others...
Any pointers? I have MPIO installed, etc.

Dell Compellent SC2020 configuring Windows 2016 Cluster (Migration)
Hello,
I have a Dell Compellent SC2020 (one only) with the following scenario:
Cluster Hyperv 2012 (not R2)
Volumes
- LUN1 (Cluster Server has access and Server C)
- LUN2 (Cluster Server has access and Server C)
- QUORUM (Cluster Server has access and Server C)
Server
- Cluster Server
- Server A
- Server B
- Server C (Backup)
Does the SC2020 support Windows 2016 Cluster with Hpyerv?
While updating the nodes in my cluster, I need to remove access from (server A) to upgrade the operating system. And when the new cluster group is created, I need to remove access to (server B).
See if I am right in the actions:
- I will remove the (server A) from (Cluster Server). With this I will lose access to the LUNs, avoiding the corruption during the process of creating the new hyper cluster;
- After the cluster group (in Hyperv) created on (Server A), I need to display the volumes to new (Server A). I will keep the same server name, so I will get the IQN in Windows and add manually during server creation.
- I will add this new one (Server A) to the same group (Cluster Server in Compellent). With that, I'll get back to Volumes. However, the disks will go offline.
- I disconnect the VMs from the cluster group (in Hyperv) and now remove the (Server B) from (Cluster Server) in Compellent. With this, I can now put the discs online on the new one (Server A) and import the VMs.
- Now without access to (Server B) volumes, I can destroy the old cluster group and reformat the new one (Server B).
- I add the new one again (Server B) in the (Cluster Server) in Compellent, so I will have access to the volumes again, so I can add the new one (Server B) to cluster group no (Hyperv).
My goal is not to change the volume mappings.

I have trouble searching the logfiles from our SC8000.
Allows me to select "Last Month" but this gives me only 500 lines max.
a very recent example:

SC8000 compellent and vmware
Below is my current situation and looking for help on how to reclaim the free space on the storage.
We have installed VMware esxi 6.0 connected to storage SC8000 compellent.
Have allocated 2 TB of volume to VMware cluster but it is occupy disk space of more then 3 TB. How to reclaim the space.
On my research, I found that for windows server there is a tool but not for VMware.
This disk space keeps on increasing because when ever we delete any VM our of strorage from VMware it does not get deleted out of storage and keep increase the disk space.

SCv2020 Snapshot question
Hello.
We have a new SCv2020 with 24x 1.2TB 10K drives. I plan on using the balanced storage profile (write to RAID10-DM and convert to RAID6 over time), and creating several LUNs to map to our ESXi hosts.
In storage manager I don't see any place to modify the snapshot behavior. I was hoping to only keep a day or two of snapshots to not use up a lot of extra space. I have the data progression set to run at 11PM every night (i'm guessing this is what converts the RAID10 data to RAID6).
Also, how long does it generally take the data to progress down to RAID6? We will be P2V'ng about 10TB worth of physical servers onto the storage within a week of it being installed.

SCV2020 connectivity issue on fibre
I Have an issue on adding esxi host 6.0 update 1 on SCV2020 storage, while adding the host in scv2020 storage host setup was successful but after the process is complete it was show that there was an connectivity issue it says on the connectivity status is DOWN.

QLE2462 host Bus Adapter doesn't communicate with the switch!
i had place an order for Qty. #2 DELL FF340 QLE2462 host Bus Adapter
to be installed in 2 servers, DELL PowerEdge R720
the exist switch is Cisco and the fiber GBIC is Csico GLC-SX-MM= DOM (1/Gbps)
both server is cannot connect to the switch!
i try to make a connection between the two servers (between the two QLE2462) the servers are connected and working good
but when i try to connect to the switches it doesn't work!

Replicationg volumes protected by Veeam backup
I am using Veeam backup & replication to protect volumes on my Compellent. The same volumes are replicated to another Compellent on a secondary site. The seems to be to many changes each night on the primary volumes to get the volumes synced. My guess is that Veeam is writing snapshots to the volumes while running the nightly backup jobs, which again creates to many changed Blocks to get sthe systemes in sync. Is there a way to solve this?

Is it possible to use SNMP to display Compellent WWNs (since CompCU will not)
Since the CompCU utility does not offer any optoin for this, I use the following SNMP command to list the disks in my compellent arrays and place it into a config file
snmptable -v 1 -c $(public_SNMP) $(Array_IP') scdiskconfigtable >> $CONFIGFILE
and I use this command to display a table of the enclosures (which includes Asset Tags) attached to each array
snmptable -v 1 -c $(public_SNMP) $(Array_IP') scencltable >> $CONFIGFILE
(( before you get on my case, I know we are using SNMP V1 and it has all kinds of issues but it works for me))
But I cannot find any SNMP MIb entry for the WWN of the Array Ports (Virtual or Physical)
Is there an entry in the Compellent MIB that I am missing?

Connecting to two sets of FC switches
A newly installed SC9000 came with both 16gb (dual port) and 8gb (quad port) FC HBA card. 16gb FC ports are connected to two brocade6510 switches (Fault Dom 1 & 2 virtual port mode).
There are two existing Brocade 300 switches connected to existing VNX storage and servers.
I created two additional fault domains with two 8gb ports from each sc9000 controller connected to brocade300s. This is also in virtual port mode.
After that, I created zones on brocade300 switches and mapped a volume to two node citrix XenServer 6.5 cluster. XenServer GUI shows the new storage repo with multipath 2 of 2.
Now when I perform an offline copy of VM to this new repo, transfer rate is really slow ~24MB/sec. Is there anything I missed? Is there any issue using a single hba port to access LUNs from both vnz and compellent at the same time?

SC220 connect to two Dell PowerEdge servers
For ESXI 6.0, can I use one Compellent SC220 for datastores and two Dell PowerEdge servers for VM hosts, connected via DAS using Perc H810 cards on bother servers? I know both servers can recognize the Compellent and access the same datastores at the same time, but can it work properly for vMotion and HA?

Compellent 4020 Reboot loop after deleting volume
Hi, we have a compellent 4020, and after deleting a volume from the storage manager, the device rebooted, and it's now stuck in a reboot loop.
In the console - it shows the message "missing disks (11)"
All essential disks are missing, rebooting in xx seconds unless disks are found.
Can anyone help with this issue?

Dell EMC SC 2020 SAS

I deployed some ISCSI and FC systems, and one SAS system, talking about SC 2000 series here.
Now i have opportunity to go into SC2020 SAS but on 3 PE servers. Is this supported, i know you can do 2 or 4 servers, but cant find if 3 servers is supported.

Given the "One iSCSI Network with Dual 1 GbE 4-Port Storage Controllers" design described in the Dell Storage Center SCv2000 and SCv2020 Storage System Deployment Guide (page 47), what is Dell's generally recommended iSCSI design (including vSwitch layer) for a 2-node vSphere 6.x HA cluster using VMware's software-based iSCSI initiator? Please include an example iSCSI IP address config (SCv2000 fault domains and vSwitch layer) in your reply.
